PATH TO THE FUTURE

There once was a boy by the
name Fredrick McJeckle who lived in a wealthy community surrounded by the thick
woods of southern New Jersey called Richardson Township. He was 16, with pale
white skin, it seemed like no matter how much he was in the sun his skin would
always stay as white as fresh snow in December.
Fred was skinny and about 5’5
with an afro full of fiery red curls and a face full of freckles. He was in the
11th grade and went to Richardson high school. He hated high school.
Fred hated it because he wanted to be popular like others, instead he was the
opposite he had no friends. Everyday he went to school, everyone teased him.
They called him “Red Fred Freckle McJeckle” and he hated it.
One of his biggest bullies
was Jaden Williamson, but everyone called him Spike. They called him Spike
because of his hairstyle. He was about 6’2, he had jet black hair with red
highlights. As you can see Fredrick’s life was no walk in the park, but it only
gets worst.
On the Halloween of 2011,
Fredrick noticed that he went the whole school day without being bullied once
he said to his self, “ today was pretty lax, I wish everyday was like this” he
also thought to himself that it probably was because Spike didn’t come to
school today. But he didn’t think too much about it he was just glad he went
the whole day without having his lunch money taken or being teased about how
over weight his mother and father are. After school Fred walked home by himself
as usual, but today he seen all the children in costumes running up and down
the streets trick or treating. There was even teens from his school in
costumes playing around. But Fred’s joy was short lived when he seen Spike and
his gang of friend walking straight towards him in their costumes. Fred felt
like his heart was about to pop like an over inflated balloon in his chest.
Spike and all of his friends were wearing scary skeleton costumes
He was hoping that Spike and
his friends didn’t notice him, so he hurried up and turned around and sped
walked the other way. As Fred walked faster and faster, Spike and his friends
stated walking faster and faster. And eventually Fred started jogging, then
when Spike and his friends started jogging. Fred burst into a full on sprint. He
cursed to himself saying “ Damn, how dumb am I to have believed that I could go
a whole school day without a problem”.
As he ran faster and faster he could hear
Spike and his gang chanting his name like a song “ Red Fred Freckle McJeckle,
Red Fred Freckle McJeckle.” Then Spike yelled “ where are you going, we are
going to catch you so make this easy on yourself”. Then Fred tripped over a
rock and twisted his ankle just a couple houses away from his house. Instantly
Spike and his buddies were standing over him laughing and saying “trick or
treat” at him in their scary costumes. They picked Fred up by his underwear and
ran through his pockets taking everything from his gum and candy to his pens
and hat. “ Get the stuff out of the bag” commanded Spike to his friend.
Then as Fred looked up from the ground he seen
Spike with a bag of flour and his friends with cartons of grade A jumbo eggs,
Spike emptied the bag of flour all over Fred’s head. Then instantly after that
Spike and his friends pounded Fred with eggs and laughing the whole time while
doing it. Fred did nothing but lay there and cry. After they were finished
terrorizing Fred. “Now that’s what I call a powdered egg” said Spike and they
walked away laughing. Fred picked his self off the ground and limped home. He
burst through the door enraged, he yelled “that’s it I’m sick of my life”. His
mother and father did not even pay him any mind. He contemplated for hours in
his room. Then Fred made his mind up, he was going to commit suicide.
So Fred wrote his suicide
note saying that he was worthless and no one appreciated him for anything
therefore he was going to remove himself from the earth then Fred waited until
12:34 then he snuck out of his room window and walked deep into the woods
bearing nothing but his flashlight. Then he reached his destination. Fred finally
reached the deserted well in the middle of forest. He pointed his flashlight
into the well. It was so deep that the light could not reach the bottom of the
pit. So Fred stood on the edge of the well. He closed his eyes and the he
thought, it all ends here I will finally be at peace then he fell into the
well. He felt as if he had been falling for hours then.
He opened his eyes and he saw
nothing but blue skies. Fred said to his self “this must be heaven”. But then
he look around him he saw people in bodysuits made of spandex. Fred was amazed
he thought he was seeing angels, then he observed more and he seen cars without
wheels hovering and going about their way. Fred walked along the streets the
buildings were futuristic his face lit up in amazement. The streets moved
people along like escalators. Then Fred caught the attention of one individual.
He walked up to Fred and said “ you are
odd, where are you from and what is your name”. Fred was shocked. He couldn’t
respond. The man resembled Fred heavily.
Fred said “I’m Fredrick
McJeckle, I’m from Richardson township, where am I, and what is your name”. The
guy said “oh my god! Richardson township, I haven’t heard that name in ages,
this cannot be, my name is Fredrick …… McJeckle”. Fred said “what the hell is
going on, is this supposed to be a joke. “ what year are you from said strange
Fred to Fred”. “ I guess 2011” said Fred. Strange Fred face widened in shock
the he grabbed Fred by the arm and dragged him along. Fred was dragged all the
way to a place that look almost like a laboratory…
Then strand Fred asked him
“how the hell did you get here”. Fred replied
“honestly I’ve been going through some problems with bullying” said Fred
still confused with the situation that’s going on. “and it got so bad that I
wanted to commit suicide”. Then strange Fred told him he had a solution to his
problem. He pulled out a object that looked like some sort of futuristic ray
gun. He called it the mind remote. Fred asked what does it do. Strange Fred
explained that if you shoot someone with it you control everything they do. He
told Fred to use it on his bullies and he will not have any more problems. Fred
was excited, he finally had a solution to all of his problems. But then Strange
Fred warned him that if he misused the mind remote, the time police were going
to come and take him away. He never said where to but he just said away. Then
Strange Fred put his hand on Fred’s forehead and instantly Fred woke up in his
bed.
Fred woke up drenched in
sweat, he didn’t know if what he just experienced was a dream or reality. Then
Fred hopped out of his bed and jammed his toe. When he looked down to see what
he jammed his toe on. Fred realized it was the mind remote, then he said “let
the games begin”. Fred walked in school that same morning with the mind remote
tucked in his pocket. Then in the middle of the school day coming out of lunch
he seen his worst nightmare walking straight towards him. His heart started to
race, he didn’t know if the mind remote would actually work. Then he heard the
dreaded words “ Red Fred Freckle McJec……” Spike stopped right in the middle of
his sentence. Fred shot him with the mind remote and spike stood there in the
corner of the hallway as if he was frozen.
Then Fred said “hop on one
leg and bark like a dog”. And Spike did just that, and everybody laughed. Fred
made Spike follow him around all day doing everything he said. He gained
control of all of Spikes friends and he made him humiliate themselves in front
of the whole school. Then Fred realized if he can do this to them, he can do
this to anybody. He realized he could get whatever he wanted. So he zapped the
principal, and made the principal let school out for a month. Fred zapped all
his teachers and made them put A+’s for all of his grades. He got mad with
power eventually he started zapping stores clerks for free candy, and police
officers to pardon him for breaking the law.
Then one morning when Fred
was walking out of Game-Stop with a hand full of new, unpaid for games a blue
portal opened up in front of him, it was about the length of two cars in
diameter. Then two beings jumped out.
They looked human but had some robotic features, they were wearing the
futuristic body suits that Fred had seen everybody wearing when he visited the
future. But their suits had a silvery outline and across the chest said time
police. They spoke synchronized saying “Fredrick McJeckle, you are in violation
of the use of the mind remote. Therefore you have to come with us”. Fred yelled
that he wasn’t going anywhere and tried to use the mind remote on the time
police but it didn’t work.
Suddenly the time police
started running towards him and Fred picked up a rusty pipe from off the
ground. He smashed one of the time police in the head, he fell to the ground
not moving with blood pouring from his head to ground. One other of the
policemen grabbed Fred from behind he put Fred in a chokehold. While the other
policeman pulled a big gun from nowhere, the gun was so big, it looked, like a
rocket launcher. Every memory flashed in Fred’s mind as he tried to struggle
free from the policeman’s hold including the bullying and his warning for the
use of the mind remote. Then the policeman shot the gun just as the policeman
let Fred go. But a bullet didn’t come out, it was a net, but it was not made
out of string, it was made out of a neon yellow matter.
Fred was trapped by the net, he
struggled and yelled “get me the fuck out of this”, he whipped and lashed his
arms around like a wild bull in a desperate attempt to escape the net. The
policemen dragged the net back into the portal leaving the corpse of their
fellow policeman behind and with Fred screaming “ nooooooooooo” all the way.
Then the portal close behind them. later on the time police came back to the
present and cleaned up the present without Fred, they turned everybody back to
normal, no one remembered what events took place, and they thought that it was
just one day after Halloween.
When Fred’s parents discovered
that he was missing they searched all over his room. For hours they looked
franticly around the room, Then they discovered his suicide note. And they were
devastated, for months every resident of Richardson Township regretted every
moment they took for granted with him. Even Spike felt deep sorrow, he started
a non bullying organization. For years groups looked for the location where
Fred took his own life not knowing that time police actually took Fred away,
and Fredrick was never seen again nor his was his body was ever found.
