Notes
Making inferences/ Inferring = Drawing Conclusions = Using past knowledge with clues from the text to understand what is really going on in a story.
Just like drawing conclusions when you make inferences you read between the lines.
To begin to infer ask yourself who? what? when? where? & WHY?
Characterization

(Bill was a mean cowboy.)
2. Character's speech and/or actions.
(Bill cussed, then shot his six shooter in the air.)
